The coastline
The Tel Aviv-Yafo promenade is a natural place to begin exploring. Walk or cycle beside the sea, stop for a coffee, or choose a stretch of sand and watch the city slow down. The coastline connects neighborhoods, beaches and public spaces, with views toward Jaffa to the south.
Make a day of it
Start with a walk along the promenade, then head inland for lunch or follow the waterfront toward Jaffa. Beach facilities and lifeguard service vary by location and season; check signs and swim only where and when bathing is permitted.
Along the waterfront
The promenade, often called the Tayelet, makes it easy to experience the coast without a fixed itinerary. The northern waterfront is home to Tel Aviv Port; farther south, the city’s beaches lead toward Charles Clore Park and the silhouette of Jaffa.
- For a relaxed morning: pick a beach, walk along the water and stop for breakfast nearby.
- For a longer walk: follow the promenade south toward Jaffa and leave time to explore the old port.
- For sunset: find a spot on the promenade or in Charles Clore Park and look west over the sea.
At the beach: swim only at designated beaches while lifeguards are on duty, and follow the flags and posted instructions. Bring water, sun protection and footwear for hot sand.
Getting there
The seafront is reached on foot from many central neighborhoods. Buses serve the surrounding streets; exact routes and service times change, so check your journey before setting out. Keep cycle paths clear when walking.
